Homeward bound! September 26, 2009

Well its the day we dread on vacation, we are heading home. We've had a wonderful time. Thursay we headed to the Zephyr Cove part of the lake to a park called Cave Rock Park. We launched our kayak there and paddled around, The lake is amazing, so clear and so blue. We noticed yesterday as we were walking along the shore here at south shore how low it is but out were we were it was wonderful. Afterward we headed to Zephyr Cove Resort for lunch out on the deck overlooking the lake. We came back to the trailer, relaxed, read and then got ready and headed up to the Hardrock Cafe for dinner. Yesterday we didn't know quite what to do with ourselves...we hung around here until noon, went for a walk, had pizza for dinner and came back and watched a movie. Its been a great trip, we will definately want to do this again.

Kitchen in Vikingsholm

Yesterday was full of exercise, I'm not kidding. We started off the day at Meeks Bay. We "launched" the kayak at the beach and paddled our way around the shore checking out beautiful lake homes and water so clear you could see the bottom. I'm not sure there is anything more beautiful than Lake Tahoe. Of course there is, but I just can't think of what that might be. We enjoyed about 2 hours out in the kayak, it was so fun and relaxing. I told Roger he could just row and I'd read and relax, however, I didn't bring a book so we both paddled around. We loaded up the kayak after a brief rest and headed to Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay. We hiked down the one mile road to the Vikingsholm. Talk about a gorgeous setting, Lora Knight build this home in the early 1900's and it is a Scandinavian design although she was English, she loved the architecture. We took the tour, loved it, couldn't believe some of the things in the kitchen....my collectibles!!!!! After our tour, we had to hike the one mile back up to the road, it was quite a hike but we did it....we felt we had our fill of exercise so stopped at McDonald's for ice cream....great day!!!!

Pictures of our day 9-20-09

Lake Tahoe Vacation September 2009

We arrived here in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, thrilled that the weather was gorgeous and our site is perfect. We set up our trailer and then headed down to Stateline to walk around and ended up at our new favorite place, The Red Hut for ice cream. We ordered Baby Bear size and it was huge!!!!! Saturday we took a walk to get a newspaper, ran into Raley's and Kmart, drove down by Camp Rich to find the Pope-Baldwin bike path. We went to see Julie & Julia, cute movie, had lunch at Chevy's and came back to our chairs. Today, we walked to Ernie's for breakfast, came back, I cleaned the trailer, Roger enjoyed his paper. We (actually Roger) loaded up our bikes and we headed down to the Pope bike path. Oh my gosh, it was gorgeous, we rode past Camp Richardson, to the Tallac Historical Site and roamed back there enjoying the Pope Estate, the Baldwin Estate, and the beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. Had a coffee drink at "Camp Rich" sat on the porch watching the people go by and generally had a peaceful day. Tomorrow we are off to Reno to do some shopping.....until then....:)

Its spring time already, where does the time go. I always thought that as we grow older we would have more time to do all the things we want to do...NOT!!!!! Lately, I feel like we've been on a speed track and can't get caught up. What, do you say, have we been doing...I'm totally clueless. We had a wonderful Easter at Diane's. we had 23 members of our family for a delicious dinner served by Diane and Dennis, a great Easter egg hunt, and lots of family fun.

A few weeks ago, Roger and I headed up to Tahoe overnight. We had a great time, our room had a wonderful view of Lake Tahoe, what a beautiful sight...we rode the gondola up to Heavenly, oh my gosh I had no clue what was on the other side of the mountain...more mountains and skiers, lots of skiers.

We will be heading up to Sunriver this Friday for a week of vacation, can't wait to enjoy Oregon and see some friends.

Jeff is recovering from cellulitis, it was kind of scary, his leg looked awful, he's off of work until Monday taking care of himself. He's lucky to have Krissy home this week to help him. I'm sure Cooper is right in there too...taking care of Dad, in case you don't know, Cooper is their darling boxer...one of our cute granddogs.

Just in case no one could figure it out, those 2 darling girls at the top of our blog are our sweet granddaughters...aren't they just so cute!!!

Hapy Spring!!
