Off Again...

We've been home 8 days and we are off....we are headed down to Arroyo Grande this morning to see the Harrison's...truth be known to see Rylee and Kamryna although seeing their mom and dad isn't too bad either.

I'll post pictures soon...I'm sure we may take a few. I'm driving down separately so that we can have a car to run around in while we are there. My hope is that when I pull up, Rylee won't be too disappointed that Papa isn't with me. Why do I say that??? Yesterday, she wanted to talk to "Papa" and when I said hi it was grandma...she cried and gave the phone back to her mom!!!!

Bye for now!!

We made it to Boom Town yesterday, arriving in Reno about 1:00. Ely, Nevada is a good place to be from!!!!! It was a sleep over only stop and we were out of there early Sunday morning. We stayed here in Boomtown so that Roger could enjoy Cabela's and I enjoyed some gambling. We had a nice room and had a fun last evening of vacation. We arrived home today around 3:00, Lady was so excited to seeus as we were to see her. Our tomatoes have grown, our lawn was long, the house was clean, and our mailed had piled up. All in all we have had a wonderful trip with no glitches....thanks to all of you that followed along with our journey.

Roger and I loved Grand Junction, Colorado. It has an adorable Main Street and was on the same street as our hotel. We were able to walk to dinner which was not that good but then we walked to breakfast at a great little place and enjoyed sitting outside. The downtown area is filled with art that is for sale. We found this absolutely perfect sculpture that so remined us of our granddaughters and "Papa" wanted to buy it until he saw the price. So we now have at least of picture....poor kitty....I think Sushi has been in this position before!!!!! Must get a move on to the next day....we are off to Ely, Nevada...not an exciting place.....good night!!!

Good-bye Texas...Hello Colorado

We are here in Grand Junction, Colorado. Yesterday was a really long day and today too. We left Dallas yesterday about 12:45 and arrived in the awful town of Dalhart Texas at 9:00 P.M. We stayed at the best hotel in town...Holiday Inn Express and it was funky to say the least. It was clean but it left a bit to be desired. Neither one of us slept well and we were awake at 6:30 so we headed out. We were in the car 9 hours today and excuse me but our rears are tired of sitting. Grand Junction is a neat area, our hotel is right downtown so we were able to walk to dinner which was nice, the walk felt so good. Tomorrow we leave for Ely, Nevada another hot spot on our way home. Big news yesterday, we got pulled over by the sheriff's department...someone was speeding. The sheriff was a nice kid, reminded me of Jeff and of course, after Roger schmoozed ...is that a word...with the kid, we were off and running with no ticket!!!! One of us has been very careful since being sure to keep the speed at or under the limit!
The pictures are reversed but I can't figure out how to switch them. The sunset was in Texas last night, it was beautiful...the only beautiful thing near Dalhart!!! Colorado is absolutely gorgeous...so many trees, huge river, and so green.
Until next time :)

Waxahachie, Texas

Once again, today Roger had meetings all day. Gertie and I headed out around 10:00 for Waxahachie, Tx. I bet you are wondering what on earth was Patty doing going there...its soooooooooooooooo cute. I had seen on the internet a quilt store called Common Thread in this little town and wanted to explore. It was about an hour from where we are staying and to be honest I have no clue how I got there and back, but Gertie does!!!! I wish I would have had all my shopping buddies with me. The quilt store was really nice, the quilts were gorgeous. After drooling over all of them and wondering when I'll ever have time to finish my second quilt, I headed to the antique stores. They were wonderful, I could have hauled home at least a car full if not more, they had so many treasures, had lunch inside one of the shops at a little place called Two Sister's Cafe, hey sister we ought to do that!!!! Not only was the sandwich to die for, but they specialize in CUPCAKES.....yes of course I had one!!! It was set inside an antique store and the sister that made my sandwich was so sweet. We've noticed that the people in Texas are so gracious and kind, guess its that southern hospitality. Anyway, it was a fun day, finally found some cute stores!!!

Roger and I attended a banquet in the evening and then came back to our room and started packing up. We leave this afternoon for Dalhart, Texas where ever that is. We are making the big turn and heading home. Can't wait to see Lady!!!!

I'll keep you "posted"

Dallas...Wow!!!!

This was our first full day in Dallas. Roger had meetings all day, yuk for him the alarm went off at 6:30.....didn't bother me, rolled over and slept until after 8:00. Although, his morning wasn't too exciting, I spent mine drinking coffee, chatting on line with Katie, reading my book and finally in the shower at 10:30....yes for those who know me I did not take my shower the second my eyes opened!!!!!

I met Roger for lunch and then headed out being led my "Gertie" our new friend....also known as a GPS!!!! She took me past some absolutely amazing mansions in a beautiful area of Dallas...at least I think it was Dallas and we ended up at Pottery Barn for Kids, Crate and Barrel, etc.. Yes I did have fun although it was about 95 and extremely humid. I got back and Roger arrived about an hour later

We headed to downtown Dallas to the place where JFK was assassinated, it really struck deep with both of us. We each remembered where we were when we heard the awful news and to be there was truly an experience we won't soon forget. We were both so bummed that we forgot the camera but I did take a couple picitures on my phone...now one of our kids will have to help us download it to the computer.....Hint hint!!!!! Afterward, as we were driving back for dinner, we hit a HUGE down pour and big big lightening.....it was so cool. We had dinner, walked around a very large outlet mall and now are in for the night.

Good night and sweet dreams...

Amarillo Got Better

Yesterday we went investigating Amarillo in more detail. We finally, after getting lost several times on Saturday, found the antique stores, half of which were closed on Sunday. We did poke around a few of them, then headed to the mall. It was a huge mall and we found a cute dress for guess who....Kamryn and Rylee!!!! We had an early dinner at Joe's Crab Shack and then headed to a "Dilla's" baseball game. They are a triple A baseball team we think.....what fun...it was even free on Sundays. Anyway, what a riot....everyone yelling at them both for and against all in that Texan drawl!!!! We left early to be out in Palo Duro Canyon for the musical Texas. It was absolutely wonderful, set down in the bottom of this huge canyon.....we loved every minute of it and it ended with a fireworks show.....it was one of the best things we have done.

Today, after having breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, we headed down to Dallas, Texas. We made a detour in the town of Decatur....a wonderful historic district with the neatest courthouse. I did take a picture but didn't blog it. I'll share later.

WE are exhausted, trying to settle in our hotel in Dallas for 3 nights, Roger has meetings the next 2.5 days so I' plan to do a little exploring on my own. Wish you all were with me!!!!

Until we meet again.....

Amarillo...YUK!!!!

We made it to Texas today, a reasonable short drive from Santa Fe. We loved Santa Fe, we spent the whole day walking around the downtown with all the wonderful adobe buildings, lots of galleries and jewelry shops, took a tour of the city via a bus which was so interesting and ended with a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called The Shed. Today we left around 9:30 for Amarillo and it isn't so wonderful. We've driven around for about 2 hours trying to find something we like about it. We went on a wild goose chase searching for some antique stores and finally find a few only to find they are closed Sunday, Monday....so we won't be going to those and the windows were really cute!!!!! We ended our dinner with dinner at the Cracker Barrel...we just had to end that with blackberry cobbler....fabulous!!!! Tomorrow we have no clue what we are doing but we are hoping to see the "Big Texas" show at Palo Duro Canyon tomorrow night. Until later.....

New Mexico

Yes...we've made it to Santa Fe. We drove Route 66 from Flagstaff. There isn't much in between that is for sure. We drove through 2 small towns that at some point I'm sure were something but now are pretty much depressed. We stopped at Big Sky casino for a cookie, coffee and a little gambling....what fun...walked away $150.00 better off than we started. We arrived in Santa Fe about 5:00, had dinner at a great place called the Blue Corn Brewery...YUMMMMMMMM!!!! We came back to our hotel, swam and sat in the spa and then tried to plan our trip home...have no idea how we will get home in 4 days!!!!! Off to check out Santa FE......we leave here tomorrow for Amarillo, Texas.

Grand Canyon...yes it is Grand

We made it...what an amazing day today was. I woke up at 5:30 with Roger looking at me saying "are you ready to go to the Grand Canyon"!!! Well sure, I love getting up early...so up we did, got ready and headed out. Our first stop was a wonderful little place called The Campus Bean in Flagstaff, AZ. It was perfect for us, wonderful latte, Roger had a great looking omelet and I had a wholewheat-sunflower bagel. We enjoyed our breakfast and then headed to the Grand Canyon. Its amazing to us how green and lush parts of Arizona are. Anyway, we arrived and were overwhelmed...it is truly a wonder. Oh my goodness....we just hopped from view point to viewpoint totally amazed. It is huge and way down at the bottom you see this green...which Roger pointed out is the Colorado River. We had a wonderful day, we are hot and tired but thrilled to have had such a fun day.

Sedona...oh so beautiful

We had a wonderful drive to Sedona yesterday. We started out going over the Hoover Dam. They are making a new bridge that will cross over the huge gorge so you won't drive over the dam any more. It was incredible to see how high it will be and the men working on it way way way up high!!!! I'll try to post pictures but its been a challenge thus far so we will see.

We stopped in Kingman, checked out the "Cracker "Barrel" there, had to run in Wal-mart for a tire gauge and a windshield shade...we only buy the most interesting stuff!!! Off we went, glad to be out of that town, then we hit some beautiful areas lots of green and trees which I wasn't expecting in Arizona. We stopped in this cute little town along Route 66...Williams, enjoyed strolling around, chatting with nice people and getting a coffee drink. One of the ladies we chatted with suggested we take 17 south to 89A to Sedona as it is a much more scenic drive than the way we had planned. OH MY GOSH...it was unbelieveable....God is so amazing!!!! You can certainly feel the hand of God in this country side...absolutely gorgeous!!!!! We will post pictures....if I'm able soon. Sedona is wonderful, we've decided to stay here until Thursday so today we are off to explore the town, tomorrow the Grand Canyon. Until later...xoxoxoxo

I finally figured out how to upload to the blog so here is a picture from our first day. See that in the back...its Half Dome...just in case you couldn't see it!!!!

Viva Las Vegas via Yosemite

We made it!!!! We left yesterday morning at 8:00 and finally....after many hours of driving we drove into Las Vegas about 6:30. We had a beautiful drive through Yosemite, had an absolutely wonderful lunch at the Mobile gas station in Lee Vinning. If you are ever near there, its a definate must...I had the steak cesear salad and it was so good, I didn't want it to end. You should see the desserts there....HUGE!!!!! I wanted the chocolate cake so bad but was full so off we went. We drove across the desert which was BORING!!!! Hello...don't know how people live there, actually really sad to see how they live. We couldn't believe how hot it was in the car...then discovered our air was turned to heat!!!! I think its almost time for Roger and I to have a care taker live with us.

It was 99 degrees last night at 10:30....miserable outside but inside the "Wynn" I was winning $$$$$...soooo fun!!!!

Off to Sedona today, only 4 hours in the car..YIPEE!!!!!
